I don’t want to be branded a racist, but this just has to be really, seriously discussed. It is just me or is there much much more foreign people walking around the streets of Kirkcaldy than Langtonians themselves? I understand that diverse cultures and creeds within the community is a good thing, but there is a limit. Isn’t there? On walking down the towns High Street, there must’ve been about 3 turban bearers to every Langtonian. Am I being racist? Am I too patriotic? Is globalization a good thing?
First things first, the European Parliament is the biggest waste of time ever. Many of you may not agree, but realistically it is. The whole idea of a European Union also sucks, perhaps my nationalism is showing but shoudn’t countries get on independently? I don’t agree with the, ‘If a countries in the EU its people can almost walk freely into any other members country’, idea that the European Parliament gives. The whole idea of supranationalism is nonsense.
So anyway, back to the point, Why is there so many foreigners in Kirkcaldy, why Kirkcaldy? I can live with foreign people in the town but it’s when the local shop starts selling ‘Polsky Chipsies’ and at my work we are given sheets with, common Polish words on, that sickens me. Kirkcaldy has always had a diverse population with people from all over coming but never have they had such an impact as the Polish people do. There is even a Polish section in the local paper. Sorry but, Pakistanis have been staying in the town for years and have never had a section in the paper. And as for that Romanian at my work, well…..

The UK is a rich country, and we are full of people who either don’t want to do the work, or want too much for it. Take for example the British Brickie- a project manager will budget £1 a brick for a British Brickie- a Pole- 20p a brick. Or how do think the Spaniards feel- the town near where my Grandparents live’s population is 60% brits.
See the logic here?

Polish pilots were among the bravest who fought in the Battle of Britain – where many fought and died to win the freedom that gives us the right and privilege to do many of the things we take for granted. Local business is doing a brilliant job responding to the new community we have in the town and providing some home comforts for them. There are also plenty of local facilities for other nationalities such as Pakistanis and Chinese.
If the local people were a bit less sniffy about getting off their backsides and doing a day’s work, perhaps you wouldn’t be quite so uncomfortable on the new cosmopolitan High Street.
I welcome the diversity. It’s economics that brings it in exactly the same way it brought me to Scotland 16 years ago and my ancestors to America 200 years before that. I’m just glad I didn’t meet any xenophobic bigots when I got here.

… you’re more blogger than bigot.
btw, it’s just as well the EU sucks, otherwise we’d drift inexorably towards America. Then you’d all become aliens, all illegal aliens like Mork and ALF and the governor of California

I’m no racist by any means but a collumn in the paper? That’s taking the piss. Immagrants shouldn’t be allowed in if they can’t speak a word of English. I have no problem with immagrants, as long as they can speak our language, otherwise it’s pretty much useless for them to be here if they are unable to communicate with the locals.

Polar bear? They’ll let any bastard in nowadays. Fucking cheek. They come over here, with their white fur and bad attitude and think they can say any bloody thing they like. They can hardly speak the language. “Immagrants” indeed. Stick em all in a boat and send the bastards back to the north fucking pole. Pole, polar bear, you’re all the fucking same. Why don’t you all piss off back home? And take your bloody dead seals with you.
